WORSHIP & ARTS
Worship is our response to God -- for who He is, for what He says and most certainly, because of what He has done.
It is our natural overflow when we recognize God’s majesty, power and love for us (Psalm 117:1-2; 21:13; 99:3). We express it in the things we say and in the way we live.
Beyond times of personal worship, we can engage with God in a corporate setting as well. There are many within FBCL committed to providing an environment where prayerfully -- this can happen! And we readily acknowledge that music and creative arts are just one way to worship God.
Our Worship and Arts Ministry encompasses a broad array of ministry opportunities including music (vocal and instrumental), drama, and audio/visual . Let us give you a brief glimpse into our Worship and Arts ministry. If you would like more information about a particular team/area or would like to know how you can serve with us, go to the Volunteer Opportunities page and let us know how you’d like to get involved!
We have two distinct worship styles at our services on Sunday mornings at FBC Lakewood. The 9:30 AM worship service utilizes a worship band (keys, guitars, & drums) and vocalists with a more contemporary music style. The 11 AM worship service utilities a more blended/traditional music approach (piano, organ & choir) in its music style.
Our audio/visual (A/V) team works with the Sunday worship services and special events throughout the year. Audio/visual areas include sound, lighting, projection/computer and video. This team recognizes the creative and powerful means of communication used, working behind-the-scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly! Volunteer opportunities are available in all areas. Prior knowledge of interested A/V areas is appreciated but not required.

The Celebration Choir sings with the 11 AM worship team on Sunday mornings and rehearses on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM. In addition to Sunday mornings, the Choir often prepares presentations for special events like Easter, Christmas and more. This group would tell you that every adult needs a creative way to express their love and devotion to God. So if you have a willing heart to praise the Lord in song and enjoy singing -- you are welcome! No experience, or special musical abilities necessary!
S.I.N.G. is made up of two choir age groups: the S.I.N.G. Children's Choir (Grades 1-6) & the Joy Preschool Choir (age 4-Kindergarten).
In the preschool choir, preschoolers have fun learning musical and spiritual concepts with music, crafts and other activities. Occasionally, preschoolers will share songs they have learned in the Sunday worship services and at special programs throughout the school year. Preschool choir meets on Sunday evenings at 6 PM in the Kindergarten Sunday School classroom.
S.I.N.G. Children’s Choir is a fun place to develop some of the arts skills - while learning how they can use the gifts and talents God has given them to tell others about Jesus Christ! One of our goals in our group is to help our kids discover a few things they enjoy (like singing) and show them how they can serve God at the same time. Serving God and having fun don't have to be polar opposites! In fact, serving God CAN be fun! And in S.I.N.G., we want our kids to know that! Children’s choir meets on Sunday evenings at 6 PM in Room 117.

In addition to playing with the Sunday morning worship teams, there are opportunities for instrumentalists to share their gifts and talents—from accompanying choirs to playing during offertory or even playing for a special event/service. If you play an instrument and would be willing to share your gifts and talents with us, we would love to talk with you!
We are always looking for people with a heart to worship the Lord through song and technical support to join our worship teams, choirs and A/V teams. For more information, please contact us!
